Well, hello there. It's been awhile. I'm not even sure if there's anyone still following this blog, or if I'm just shouting into the void.
Anyway, I wanted to pop back in to say that, if you haven't figured it out already, I am closing the chapter on this blog. I started this blog when I was 15 in an attempt to connect with the online writing community I was just beginning to discover. It has definitely served me well throughout my life and writing journey. I have learned so much about writing, publishing, fandom, movements for inclusion and diversity in publishing, and so much more. I have also made a lot of friends along the way, friends who have now become supporters, beta readers and critique partners. Despite my embarrassment at some of my earlier posts, I am beyond grateful for what this blog, and the internet writing community, has given me. However, now with Adult responsibilities and jobs and life, keeping a blog like this just isn't realistic. Also, I have other plans. It's not all bad news. It's not all endings.
I know I could just disappear into the ether like so many other bloggers do, but I actually wanted to tell you something. I am writing and publishing a book. I have struggled for my whole life with finding the courage to share my writing, but after an awful year of breakdown I re-evaluated what I wanted to do with my life and decided I was going to just rip off the band-aid and do it. And now, at this point in my life, I have the accumulated skills and resources to self-publish. So, while this blog's time is done, you can now follow the next chapter of my journey at www.alyssasherlock.com, or sign up for my newsletter at www.alyssasherlock.com/newsletter for updates on my projects. My current project is a creative non-fiction collection of poems and essays on mental health, love and friendship called this is a love story. Coming soon.
Thank you to all who have read and commented on this blog over the years. I would not be the writer I am today without you.
Love,
Alyssa
